Annika and Nicklaus hope to build Olympic Course

Golfers Annika Sorenstam and Jack Nicklaus want to be considered to design and build the 2016 Olympic Golf Course

Both were avid supporters for the bid for golf to be included as a sport in the Olympics and have written to the International Golf Federation to build the first Olympic Course since 1904.

Nicklaus is one of the most successful golfers ever, winning 18 majors during his golf career. He has already designed hundreds of golf course across the world.

Annika is also considered one of the most successful golfers. She finished playing competitive golf at the end of 2008, but before her retirement she won 72 LPGA tournaments including 10 Majors. She topped the LPGA money list with earnings of over $22 million,

She now has a thriving golf business which includes designing and building courses across the world.

I think this is a very functional partnership," said Nicklaus. "I hope we can work a deal.

"I'll be surprised if they don't select us. But I'm sure other people are interested.

The 2016 Olympics will take place in Brazil, where there is currently no public golf course. Nicklaus hopes that once the Olympics have finished the course will be for public use
