Bernhard Langer Wins in Florida
Former Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Langer won the Champions Tour Allanz Senior Golf Championship in Florida by shooting an eagle off his first play-off hole and beat John Cook. The German was tied at 17-under 199 after 54 holes. Cook ran into some bad luck, originally he had reached the green in two and was favourite to win the play-off but missed an eagle chance when his putt rolled past the hole later in the game.
For winning the title Langer took home $255.500, stating "First of all, I didn't want to make it that exciting, I'm emotional because I did it at home in front of a home crowd, family and friends”.
Langer finished third in the event last year. This year Langer and Cook both shot a 5-under 67 in their final round and Joey Sindelar scored 16-under 200. Langer was leading at the beginning before he missed a 4 foot putt but managed to bounce back again with a birdie on the par-5 hole.
