Vijay Singh has been granted an exemption for the U S Open at Pebble beach, later this month.
Singh, who will be playing in the Memorial Tournament this weekend, was scheduled to play in the 36 hole qualifier on Monday, just a day after the Memorial finishes, but the U.S Golf Association has said this will not be necessary.
Singh dropped from the top 50 in the Official Golf Rankings which would have earned him automatic qualification due to several injuries.
The U.S.G.A, said they had made their decision based on a number of factors. He has had three major wins in the past 12 years and has carried on playing golf through his injuries which has obviously affected his performance and rankings.
"I'm finally back to good health and really looking forward to competing at Pebble Beach," said Singh. "I can't wait to tee it up."
Singh has won 34 PGA Tour events in his golfing career. He was number one in the Official Golf Rankings for 32 weeks in 2004 and 2005 and was the leading PGA Tour money winner in 2003, 2004 and 2008
Tom Watson has also been granted an exemption to the U.S Open.
