Paula Creamer has won her first Major, the 65th Women’s Open at Oakmont Country Club to lose her title of being the best women’s golfer not to win a major.
She started the day 3 strokes ahead of and never let her lead go below two shots during her 2-under 69 final round, that gave her 3 –under 281 for the tournament, to beat both Na Yeon Choi of South Korea and Suzanne Pettersen of Norway by four shots.
"That question always lurked: `How come you never won a major?' “Said Creamer, during her post-tournament news conference.”Now we never have to get asked that question again. It's kind of a big relief off my shoulders."
The 23 year old golfer from Pleasanton California was only playing her fourth tournament since she had an operation on her left thumb in March of this year and still believes that it is only 60% healed. She has also had to make changes in her golf game as right side is much stronger than her left.
Creamer is the 12th first time winner in the last 15 majors.
Meanwhile the world’s top ranked lady golfer, Christie Kerr only managed to tie for 17th place
