Justin Rose has won the Memorial Golf Tournament at Muirfield Village in Ohio.
It is his first American win for the 29 year old Englishman after more than 160 attempts.
Rose finished with a final bogey free round of 66, to beat American golfer Rickie Fowler by three shots. Fowler only 21 years old, was hoping to became the youngest ever golfer to win the Memorial
Rose started the day four shots behind, but after a run of four birdies in five holes on the first nine, he became top of the leader board.
"I have had a few close calls over time and you start to sometimes wonder why you can't get it done, but it is amazing when you do get it done it does somewhat feel easy. It's nice to have the hard work pay off” he said
The win means that Rose starts to look in contention for a place on the Ryder Cup team. It moves him from 27th place to 8th in the European Ryder World Points. The first four in the points table will automatically be picked for the European Team, with the next five places decided by European Tour Earnings.
Defending champion Tiger Woods shot level par to tie 19th. It was his lowest finish at thisgolf tournament since 2002
