Johnson not bitter about losing caddie to Woods
|
The last time Tiger Woods was involved with a caddie leaving a golfer’s service the media had a field day.
This time there will be no Steve Williams-esque bitterness following Joe LaCava decision to end his time with Dustin Johnson and team-up with Woods.
''I spoke to Tiger about it. There's no hard feelings at all,'' Johnson said Thursday after his first round of the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
''We had a great conversation. He just did what he did.''
Unlike the lengthy Williams-Woods partnership, LaCava only joined Johnson this summer; in their short time together the duo won The Barclays last month.
'I liked Joe. I still do. But you've got to make decisions and you can't get mad at him for the decisions he made,'' said Johnson, one the most talented players on the tour who inherited LaCava after he'd left longtime associate Fred Couples earlier this year.
Johnson added philosophically: ''He got offered a job so he took it. You can't blame the guy. If he wants to go and caddie for him, it’s fine by me.''
Johnson will have Keith Sbarbaro, VP of TaylorMade, on his bag for the rest of the year. Sbarbaro has previous with Johnson, having caddied for him in South Korea and Germany this year.
