Steve Williams: I was "a bit over the top"

Steve Williams has admitted his post-victory blast at ex-boss, Tiger Woods, at Firestone on Sunday was a "a bit over the top."
The caddie acknowledged his reaction to Adam Scott's victory at the Bridgestone Invitational that was targeted at Woods including claiming it was the "the most satisfying win of my career" went too far.
"I had a lot of anger in me about what happened (with Woods) and it all came out. Looking back on it, I was a bit over the top," he told FOXSports.com from Atlanta, where he and Scott are gearing up for this week's PGA Championship.
Tiger Woods has always maintained that he sacked his ex-caddie Steve Williams face-to-face last month. On Sunday, Williams said that Woods fired him over the phone.
Many commentators criticised Williams' post-tournament interviews saying the theatrics off the course took away from what should have been hailed as Australian Adam Scott’s biggest win since The Players Championship in 2004.
"I had a lot of emotions going on all week," said Williams. "You hear people say, ’How good are you now that you're not caddying for Tiger,’ things like that, and it makes you want to prove yourself.
“And when we were coming down the stretch and all those people were calling out my name, I mean I’ve never experienced anything like that, and when Adam won, all of a sudden, all that emotion, it all poured out.
“But, look, it’s time to move on. The Tiger thing is over.”
