John Mallinger won the Pebble Beach Invitational this weekend, beating Jason Gore by two strokes.
The annual event which is held at Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Del Monte Golf Course and sponsored by Callaway Golf is the only event in which both men and women compete from the four major tours.
Mallinger who led throughout the whole tournament had eight birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in his final round to finish 4 under 68 and close on 15 under 273 for the tournament.
Mallinger, who has lost his fully exempt PGA Tour card after failing to finish in the top 125 money earners (he came 133rd) took home a prize of $60,000.
"I putted well today and putted well all week," said Mallinger, I love Pebble Beach. It's tough to beat Pebble Beach."
He will be joined in the final stage of the PGA’s qualifying tournament by second placed Gore.
Former Ladies Professional Golf Association Champion Anneka Sorenstam, who retired from golf at the end of 2008, also took part. Sorenstam, who won a total of 72 titles LPGA Titles during her career, shot 73 to finish on 3 under
"It's funny, you don't play for two years and then you go inside the ropes and the mindset comes back," She said. "It's there, which is too cool. But you can't make the same shots anymore."
