Tiger Woods Out of Top 20
Tiger Woods has fallen out of the top 20 for the first time since 1997.

In the latest Official World Golf Rankings, Woods is listed at No. 21, down one spot from last week and four slots in the last month.

Woods spent 623 weeks at No.1 since the 1997 U.S. Open during his career, including 281 weeks in a row that ended in November 2010, when British golfer Lee Westwood leapfrogged him to first place.

Woods has not played competitively since May 12 because of on-going problems in his left leg and refused to say when he would return to the golfing scene.

Woods said on his website: “As I stated at the AT&T National, I am only going to come back when I’m 100% ready as I do not want to risk further injury.”

The injuries to his left knee and left Achilles tendon occurred during the Masters in April. He attempted to compete in May’s Players Championship in Florida but a recurrence of the pain saw him pull out after the ninth hole.

In the fall-out of the extra-marital affairs, Woods has experienced several months of upheaval. He has lost major sponsors, changed swing coaches and parted ways with the mother of two children.

The most recent transition occured last week, when Woods cut loose long-serving caddie Steve Williams. The New Zealander, who had been with him for the majority of his 14-year career on the PGA Tour, and was part of one golf's most successful player-caddie teams ever, producing 13 major titles.
