Woodland withdraws from Wells Fargo

Power-driving Gary Woodland's wrist injury woes continues, as the niggle he sustained at Augusta National will keep him out of the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow.
The big six-footer from Topeka, Kansas, damaged his left wrist during the third phase of the US Masters and, while he completed the round, was forced to withdraw from the tournament.
Doctors have said there is no structural damage and cleared him to play, but Woodland's determination to take part at next week's Players Championship means he's erring on the side of caution and doesn't wish a relapse.
Woodland is coming off a good 2011 where he was ranked 17th on the PGA Tour money list, won his maiden PGA Tour at the Transitions Championship and was victorious at the Golf World Cup with partner Matt Kuchar.
Russell Knox of Scotland, 26, a relative newcomer to the PGA Tour as a full member, will replace Woodland.
