Tiger Woods has taken exemption to comments made by Rory McIlroy and plans to have his revenge on the golf course at this weekend’s Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor
The 22 year old Irishman said last month that any European would fancy taking on Tiger in his current form
Woods apparently went up to McIlroy in the locker room at the BMW Championship earlier this month and said "You had better be careful what you wish for young man - it might just come true."
McIlroy tried to backtrack yesterday by saying He tried to backtrack yesterday and added: "I said those things the week after he'd just shot 18 over at Akron, so he wasn't playing too well!"
"He's obviously getting his game together and he's working with Sean Foley making a few swing changes."
Asked about it again at a press conference on Tuesday, Tiger reiterated his desire to get even with the Irishman, saying that he hopes they will play one another.
Captain Corey Pavin is not bothered about the rivalry and sees it as a positive in motivating Tiger into playing great golf.
It will interesting to see if Pavin now puts Woods in the first fourball match on Friday, in which it is anticipated European Captain Colin Montgomerie will put McIlroy and Graeme McDowell.
